Finnish-American Summer Festival (Jun 10th, 2006)

The Finnish-American Summer Festival is held the second Saturday in June. Concession stands serving a variety of foods, tables of Finnish and American crafts and goods, an ethnic entertainment program, and a Pesapallo (Finnish baseball) game are highlights of this one-day celebration. It runs from late morning to early evening.

Iron Range Offroad Driving School (Jun 10th – 11th, 2006)

Iron Range Offroad, Minnesota’s only offroad driving school, is excited to announce it’s 2006 calendar. The classroom setting is the spectacular Iron Range OHV park, 3 hours north of Minneapolis and St. Paul. The classes are geared toward entry level Jeepers, stressing safety and environmental responsibility. Trail riding is broken up with class modules that cover trip preparation, vehicle maintenance and repair, driving skills for different terrain, extraction techniques, vehicle upgrades, and much more. Land of the Loon Ethnic Arts & Craft Festival (30th Anniversary) (Jun 17th – 18th, 2006)

Experience the 30th Anniversary of a family festival of ethnic arts & crafts that celebrate the culture & customs of the diverse people who first settled in northeastern Minnesota.  The colorful traditions & flavors of the early immigrants & settlers are recreated in a melting pot of artisans, crafters, musicians & entertainers.  The Land of the Loon attracts 40,000 people who enjoy more than 300 arts & crafts booths & 26 food booths of ethnic origin.  Continous entertainment is provided both days of the festival at the bandstand in the center of beautiful Olcott Park.  A wonderful chlidren’s area is provided with many fun choices for all ages to enjoy!  Don’t forget the the kick-off of the festival in downtown Virginia, the Land of the Loon Parade, on Saturday morning.  So come & join the fun & have a wonderful weekend at the Land of the Loon Ethnic Arts & Craft Festival!
