Virginia Fourth of July Celebration (Jul 4th, 2006 – 1976-09-12 00:00:00)

Beginning at 9 a.m., a children’s parade marches through Olcott Park.  Immediately following the parade, a variety of fun games for all ages are available, including a scavenger hunt.  At noon, a “fun” auction is held.  Concessions include hamburgers, hot dogs, brats and beverages will be available.

Mines & Pines Jubilee (Jul 8th – 16th, 2006)

A week long festival celebrating life on the Iron Range.  The jubilee features a gigantic parade and street dance, sidewalk days and the Mines & Pines Art Festival.

Habitat 500 Bike Ride (Jul 9th – 15th, 2006)

Now in its 14th year, the Habitat 500 is a bicycle ride (not a race) that covers 500 miles over the course of 7 days (an average of 71 miles per day). Each rider raises funds from family, friends, businesses, and church groups and designates the Habitat for Humanity affiliates they wish to support (both locally and around the world). Riders are required to raise a minimum of $750, but the average amount raised is nearly $2,000 per rider.

Iron Range Off-Road Driving School (Jul 22nd – 23rd, 2006)

Iron Range Offroad, Minnesota’s only offroad driving school, is excited to announce it’s 2006 calendar. The classroom setting is the spectacular Iron Range OHV park, 3 hours north of Minneapolis and St. Paul. The classes are geared toward entry level Jeepers, stressing safety and environmental responsibility. Trail riding is broken up with class modules that cover trip preparation, vehicle maintenance and repair, driving skills for different terrain, extraction techniques, vehicle upgrades, and much more. Hands-On History Day Camp (Jul 24th – 28th, 2006)

From homestead and location life to working in the iron mines then and now, campers ages 7-12 will get ‘elbow deep’ in history and experience the rich traditions and cultures of the Iron Range.
